Martin Wine Cellar Tasting Series & Events

Come enjoy our seated tastings with lecture and our casual reception–style tastings. We are pleased to offer events for wine novices as well as seasoned wine collectors.

Seated tastings will be informative, featuring knowledgeable guest speakers. Wine lovers will have a chance to swirl, sniff and sip their way through eight wines accompanied by and matched perfectly with delicious artisanal cheeses from our Gourmet Food Department. They will explore wine–producing regions, terminology, wine–making techniques and more. After tasting all the wines, there will be a group discussion.

Our casual reception–style tasting will afford tasters the opportunity to taste between 12 and 20 wines poured by our wine consultants. These wines will be complemented by artisanal cheeses and delectable delights from our Catering and Gourmet Food Departments. Tasters may casually stroll from table to table comparing various wines, discussing them with other tasters as well as with any of our wine experts on hand. These educational and entertaining experiences are a must for all wine fans. Please note the store location of the tasting before making reservations.

Napa Cabernet Tasting

Thursday, May 23 • 6:00pm • $45 per person • seated tasting

Metairie

Napa Cabernet Tasting

Join us at Martin Wine Cellar of Metairie for this seated tasting hosted by Wine Consultant, Leah Klausner featuring 8 Cabernets from Napa Valley. Napa was the area settled by a few choice wine families in the 1960's who bet that the wines of the area would grow and flourish. They were right. The Napa wine industry really took off in the 1980’s, when vineyard lands were scooped up and vines were planted throughout the county. A number of wineries emerged, from large conglomerates to small boutiques to cult classics. Cabernet Sauvignon is definitely the grape of choice here, with many winemakers also focusing on Bordeaux Blends. During this tasting, you will taste through this carefully selected list of Cabernet wines that display different wine making styles at a wide range of prices. The wines will be complemented by hors d'oeuvres and cheese from Martin Wine Cellar Catering. Space is limited so call 504.896.7300 to reserve your seat today!

Saisons is a French term and is a broadly defined pale ale. Saisons originated in southern Belgium during the 19th century and were typically brewed during winter and stored until summer months when they were given to farm workers as a form of hydration when water wasn’t suitable for drinking. Brewing in the winter provided farmers with work during an otherwise slow time of year.
